Catalyze Capital invests in Gesynta Pharma to advance novel endometriosis treatment
21 January 2025 – Catalyze Capital is proud to announce its investment in Gesynta Pharma AB, as part of a SEK 304 million (~26.4 million Euro) Series B financing round.

The funding will primarily be used for a Phase II clinical trial of vipoglanstat – a non-hormonal, non-opioid, disease modifying drug candidate aimed at revolutionizing the treatment of endometriosis. This painful chronic inflammatory disease significantly impairs health and quality of life, affecting 10 percent of women of reproductive age. Its symptoms often emerge in young adulthood, impacting education, career, and fertility. Current first-line treatments, including pain medications and hormonal contraceptives, provide inadequate relief for many patients or cause intolerable side effects which leaves a major unaddressed medical need for safe and effective novel therapies.
Gesynta Pharma is a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company developing innovative treatments by targeting mPGES-1, a key enzyme in inflammatory processes. The company’s research originated at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. mPGES-1 is an enzyme upregulated in endometriotic lesions that drives both pain and lesion progression. Preclinical data have shown a marked reduction of endometriotic lesions and pain following treatment with vipoglanstat.
The financing round was led by Innovestor Life Science and further included participation from existing and new investors such as Hadean Ventures, Industrifonden, Linc, Foreground Capital, Stephen Industries and Amboy Street Ventures.
We look forward to working with Gesynta’s exceptional leadership team and our co-investors to advance novel treatment for 190 million women globally affected by endometriosis.
