ERC Starting Grant
The ERC Starting Grant is part of the European Research Council (ERC). The ERC grants are highly competitive and an outstanding track record is an important factor of success. As well as the research carried out by the researcher, it is an ambitious programme aiming to recognise the best ideas and talents.

ERC Starting Grant 2023 overview
Subsidy: €1,500,000 – €2,000,000
Funding rate: 100%
Deadline: 25 October 2022. (This is the deadline from the 2023 ERC programme budget)
Project duration: 5 years
Consortium: Principal Investigator as single applicant who has been awarded his or her first PhD > 2 and ≤ 7 years prior to 1 January 2023.
Scope: ERC Starting Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they are starting their own independent research team or programme. Applicant Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their scientific proposal.
