In 2014 Horizon 2020 started with a budget of €80 billion for the next 7 years, to invest in innovative projects. The aim of the programme is to invest in our future, in sustainable and inclusive growth, and jobs. To achieve this, Horizon 2020 couples research and innovation with its emphasis on industrial leadership, excellent science and tackling societal challenges. The goal is to ensure that Europe produces world-class science, removes barriers to innovation and makes it easier for the public and private sectors to work together in delivering innovation.
This programme has ended, the next Horizon programme, Horizon Europe, will run from 2021-2027.
