Marie Curie Budget Breakdown
The preliminary structure of MSCA is divided over 5 different type of grants. The total budget of €6.8 billion will be divided over these grant opportunities. Currently, the budget for the subprogrammes is not yet known. This page will be updated as soon as this information becomes available.
Marie Curie Work Programme
The goal of the new MSCA programmes is to strengthen structuring effects on host institutions, improve guidance on supervision and exposure beyond academia and establish improved internal coherence and reinforced external synergies. MSCA has 5 different types of grants available, aiming to set up different types of training networks or training programmes. Other grants fund fellowships or events to increase the popularity of science in society. Marie Curie aims to enhance the skills of researchers or science staff in different stages of their career and the possibility to improve your career in science. In a lot of the grants the mobility principle is an important requirement, the researchers need to travel towards another country to gain skills, expertise or a fellowship.
1. MSCA Doctoral Networks
Subsidy: Varies depending on location and project duration
Budget: 2022: €427.28M
Deadlines: 15 November 2022
Scope: The MSCA Doctorates aim to train a new generation of creative entrepreneurial and innovative early-stage researchers, able to face current and future challenges and to convert knowledge and ideas into products and services for economic and social benefit. In this way, the mobility and knowledge transfer of researchers will be stimulated.

2. MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship
Subsidy: Varies depending on location and project duration
Budget: For 2022: €257M
Deadlines: 14 September 2022
Scope: Support is foreseen for individual, trans-national fellowships awarded to the best or most promising researchers of any nationality, for employment in EU Member States or Horizon2020 Associated Countries. The goal is to train these promising researchers by fellowships. Fellowships take the form of European Fellowships or Global Fellowships. European Fellowships are held in EU Member States or Horizon2020 Associated Countries and are open to researchers either coming to Europe from any country in the world or moving within Europe.

3. MSCA Staff Exchange
Subsidy: Varies depending on location and project duration
Budget: For 2022: €77.5M
Deadlines: 9 March 2022; 8 March 2023
Scope: The MSCA Staff Exchanges scheme promotes international and cross-sector collaboration through exchanging research and innovation staff, and sharing knowledge and ideas from research to market (and vice-versa). The scheme fosters a shared culture of research and innovation that welcomes and rewards creativity and entrepreneurship and helps to turn creative ideas into innovative products, services or processes. In this way, human capital across the European Research Area (ERA) will be strengthened.

4. MSCA COFUND
Co-funding of regional, national and international programmes (COFUND)
Subsidy: max €10M
Budget: For 2022: €95M
Deadlines: 10 February 2022; 09 February 2023
Scope: The COFUND scheme aims co-fund new or existing regional, national, and international programmes to open up to, and provide for, international, intersectoral and interdisciplinary research training, as well as transnational and cross-sectoral mobility of researchers at all stages of their career. COFUND supports doctoral programmes for PhD candidates, as well as fellowship programmes for experienced research, facilitating valuable synergies.

5. MSCA European Researchers Night (NIGHT)
Subsidy: €50,000-150,000 (2022-2023)
