With the Start-up innovation projects programme Innosuisse supports science-based projects of start-ups with significant innovation potential. These innovation projects must be based on application-oriented research and prepare start-ups for entering the market for the first time.

Who can apply to Start-up innovation projects? Companies with less than 50FTEs, established less than 5 years ago, headquartered in Switzerland. Start-ups which have not yet entered the market. The start-up does not yet have ready-developed products or services on the market

Funding rate: 70%.

Funding: no maximum budget

Project: Applied research, preparing for subsequent rapid implementation on to the market. The aim is to quickly and effectively bring new products and services to market.

Deadlines: In 2024 there are 4 decision meetings scheduled by the Innosuisse Innovation Council. You must submit your proposal at least 8 weeks prior to these dates. See below for the full overview of decision meetings in 2024.

Max duration: 3 years

Scope: Innosuisse supports start-ups prior to entering the market in the realisation of science-based innovation projects with significant innovation potential. The funding is intended to make a substantial contribution to significantly accelerating the market launch of new products and services. Support is provided for innovations that are not yet ready for market launch when the application is submitted, but which can be launched quickly on the market after project completion. The start-ups are funded directly by Innosuisse, a research partner is not necessary and is not supported by Innosuisse as a direct subsidy recipient. Innosuisse covers a maximum of 70 per cent of the direct project costs. The start-up pays at least 30 per cent of the costs itself as its own contribution

Start-up Innovation Projects 2024 deadlines

These dates are the decision meetings of the Innovation Council, of which there are four per year. To be considered, you must apply at least 8 weeks prior to the decision meeting date.

There are four evaluation rounds planned in 2024: a Spring Session, Summer Session, Autumn Session, and Winter Session. The first submission deadline will be mid-January for the Spring Session decision meeting, scheduled in March (exact date varies by topic).
